Valentino Master of Couture

I am currently in London its christmassy, exciting, busy and beautiful. I ventured to Somerset House at the weekend to take a nosey at the 'Valentino master of couture exhibition'. Over 130 beautiful dresses were showcased along with an installation room displaying some of Valentino's personal photographs and notes, and finally a room exhibiting some of the couture techniques frequently used in his designs.

The whole feel of the exhibition was as feminine and luxurious as expected, with a 50foot red organza drape flowing down the stairs and a huge 3D rose projecting pattens over the exhibit. Dresses were displayed on mannequins colour coded to show the era in which they were designed, this really highlighted how Valentino's trends have developed over the years but have kept a consistent semantic theme of richness and romance. Brochures were given at the door which detailed materials and embellishments on the dresses and even filled us in on which celebs wore the beautiful designs. The exhibition really is a must see.
